Wordclock Woes
Hi,
I'm having some wordclock probs. The set up is: Cubase SX/PC Hammerfall Aardsync II Optipatch 8/8 DM-24 Trak2 I'm getting crackling from the Hammerfall. It stops when I turn off the Trak2. When I call up the Hammerfall setting box, I have Word ticked as the sync source, but the ADAT 1 indicator keeps switching between Lock and Unlock while the ADAT 2 and 3 are marked Sync. I've had this rig working before. The change has been adding the optical patch bay. The only thing I can think of is the possibility that the Hammerfall needs ADAT 1 with all 8 channels connected in order to sync? I think I've included all the details, anyone? Ian |

Can you give a detailed explanation of how you have them all connected?

Hey,
I'm pasting my last reply to the same post on the Steinberg site: Shortly after posting, I was able to resolve the matter. I have everything slaved to the Aardsync, and I have all the slaved units set properly. I checked my setup and found that I had plugged the WC in cable to the WC out port on the Hammerfall (their right beside each other). Once I corrected the problem, the little green light went on on the Hammerfall and I thought the matter was taken care of. I turned everything on and found that I was still getting WC related crackles in my rig, but only when the Trak2 was on. I looked at the Trak2 and found that the sync was set to ADAT rather than WC. Once I set it back to WC everything was working. I tracked some vocals last night (I been rewiring for 4 months now), and everything worked perfectly. I think what may have happened is, when the Hammerfall was not responding to the WC, the Trak2 may have automatically tried to look to sync through ADAT. I'm not sure. All I know is that I'm making music again and it feels right. Hopefully posting this might help somebody else in the future. Thanks for taking the time to Reply. Peace, Ian
