Very Small Space...
I am relegated in my house to the Laundry Room for my recording space- there's a small adjoining room for a small band set-up, but the Laundry Room has been remodeled (by me) into a convertible space for both recording AND laundry. It really can be done! Bliss...!
I'm seeking wisdom/suggestions concerning a good method for monitoring within such a cramped space! There are two problems to solve as I see it: Room depth problem: I've got my computer "control/mixing/editing room" in a space about 6' x 8'(only 6' of room depth because the washer and dryer take up some space behind me). I'm sitting about 4' from the facing wall that is behind my computer monitor and Tascam US-428, and other sundry necessities. Height problem: I framed and sheetrocked-off the plumbing and heating pipes over my desk (at the cieling), bringing that part of the cieling directly over my desktop down to about 6" above my pointy head. The desktop, I should mention, is pretty high, about 40" (I originally built it for folding laundry:-) I use a fairly tall stool for sitting at the desk. The cieling opens back up to about a foot higher as I lean back away from the Computer, et al, so it's not entirely a cave... You can maybe envision the problems I might have installing monitors under this low a cieling, in this small a space... I'm sure there have been greater problems overcome, but any ideas, experience'd be helpful, thanks in a advance- and you're welcome for the chuckle... Rog. |
