Low Cost Iso-Booth $29.99 Plans

After doing tons of shopping on-line for Isolation booths I became very frustrated because the prices were just off the map and way too much for what you get. I decided to take things into my own hands because there was no way I was paying $2200 for a Vocal Booth.

So how could I design my ISO-Booth to be effective, light, inexpensive and portable.

After going through the whole experience from start to finish I decided to share the secrets of my success. My vocal recordings are tighter and way more up front than before, and there is absolutely no room noise period. Room noise is a good thing when it comes to drums and other instruments, but sometimes you need total isolation so you do not get an undesired room effect in your tracks. Multiply that by the amount of harmonies and your mix is hurting from a bad room sound.

So take a look at this sample "Windows Media Video" and check it our for yourself. So how much do you think you can save going this route? About $1500 VS. Whisper Room style ISO Booths.

dont you just love these experts??? there was a time not so long ago where these people would make an absolute fortune on their "ADVICE"
1. to sound proof a studio you must build a room within a room, the AIR gap you leave between these two rooms is the soundproofing....a little rockwool in between the cavities of the walls and away you go.
2. soundbooth for vocals..... you make ANOTHER smaller room inside the two rooms with double glazed windows to see if the singer is still alive and you havnt left him in there over the weekend to find him DEAD monday morning!! LEFT as is, you can always ADD sound deddening stuff around the booth to KILL reverberations but you cant make a DEAD room sound ALIVE ( in case you want to record live acoustic instruments which sound terrible in a dead room!! )
3. END OF DRAMA!! cost for advice $0 cost for materials... USE SECOND HAND BUILDING MATERIALS!!
so you see its not that hard.... and it can only sound better as you research the forums and news groups as to what the DIY guys are useing to "ACOUSTICALY TREAT" the rooms to make them sound even better
in my experience when an expert uses the words "ACOUSTICALY TREAT" thats when you sell your wife, your two kids the car and rob a bank mug as many old ladys as you can to pay them for useing "THAT WORD" lol
Keep Happy!!
Keep it simple!!

Talk to me about...

ventilation (noun) -
1. the act of supplying fresh air and getting rid of foul air

How to you do this without letting sound in? Surely if there is a path for air then there is a path for sound.

Superquiet fan(s) via labyrinthine and acoustically dampened ports?

labyrinth (noun) -
1. complex system of paths or tunnels in which it is easy to get lost

1. "Ventilation"
Press STOP on the recording system, get up off your chair, open the door and leave it open... stretch your legs and go for a walk around the block.... go feed the cat... have sex with the wife etc etc, when you come back you and your room will be "ventilated"

2.

Your not one of these experts by any chance, are you??? lol
record ALL your serious and dynamic trax in the vocal booth you constructed.... eliminating the need for "labyrinthine and acoustically dampened ports" god i cant even say that fancy word... jeeeez that must have cost someone $10000000 to hear it lolololololol
i kinda figure that unless you have "top 20" stars and bands recording in your studio..... then keep it simple!!!
Keep Happy!!

I bought a Whisper Room and I have no regrets. They are extremely well designed and put together.

I just couldn't deal with the idea of having to make something like that on top of putting together my rig.

Double Wall
4 Large Windows
Ventilation
7 X 7 X 7

14K

If you're on a budget, use a closet and sound proof it.

Actually, I been having good luck focusing on the fluff and cutting out the vocal. It's a whole new sound. I call it Flufftronics, it's big in the clubs here in LA.
