How can you seperate a delay from the original sound?

Fellow audiophiles,
I've been trying to get a bit more exotic with my recording techniques lately and am experimenting with different FX.
One thing I'd like to do is to add delay to an instrument, then seperate the original dry instrument sound from the added delay so that you can pan them left and right.
Is there a plug in that can do this?
Thanks,
Doug

Solo the track you want the delay from.

Put in a delay plugin. Mix it "100% wet" (in other words, you'll only get the delay sound, none of the original sound.

Do a mixdown to a new .wav using just the solo'ed track. You can then bring that track back in as a new track and then you can pan or automate it to your heart's content.

Have fun.
