Is a pc laptop ok for music?

I'm going to get a laptop and record music on it. What soundcard should I be looking at?I've got delta66 + Omni I/O at the moment. Something I should know before I buy the laptop? specs?

Determine which hardware and software you're going to use FIRST, then buy the computer that best fits the requirements for the hardware and software.

sorry, forgot to mention that I'll have to buy a laptop for my studies and I'll get a great discount for it.So a laptop it shall be,but that's all I know.Atleast 512mb ram that's for sure,a pentium4 2.5ghz but I don't know about the rest. I use a Yamaha midi piano, several guitars,a dynamic mic,a condenser mic, logic audio lite and reason.I'm going to buy either Fat1 or Fat2 for compression also. Motu828 would be nice but it's rahter expensive...

I had a laptop (for various reasons) before picking any gear to go with it.

It's a recent iBook (800MHz). I'm planning to buy the M-Audio Firewire 410 if it ever gets shipped. After that I'll choose whichever audio sequencer is farthest along with OSX development. In the meantime I'm playing with Reason 2.5 and loving it.
