Samson Resolv 65a Problem

I am new to this forum and hoping someone can help me.

For the past two or so years, I have been using a pair of Samson Resolv 65a powered monitors in my home studio. They have performed very well and I am pleased with the way they sound.

Just this past week, I noticed that one of the monitors seems to have lost its high end "sparkle" and sounds "muffled" ... almost as if someone put a pillow over the speaker. It seems to be more than just a faulty tweeter ... the whole unit doesn't come up to the same volume as the other one.

I tried manipulating the volume and mid-range presence controls with only a mildly noticeable effect. I swapped the monitors (left with right channel) to make sure it wasn't a problem with the incoming signal, and the problem persisted after the swap to the other channel.

The monitors have been used very carefully, never physically jarred and never cranked up to a loud volume ... in other words, not abused. The other one works perfectly when plugged into either channel.

I have contacted Samson to see about a warranty repair, but I cannot locate a sales receipt to demonstrate it would be covered under its 3-year warranty.

I would like to identify the problem and get it fixed, but I am not sure where to go for help. I would greatly appreciate any advice or information anyone can offer regarding how to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

Joe
