Hi,
I've got a number of wire ports in my vocal booth that need sealing. I've done a Google search and found these products: http://www.owenscorning.com/around/s...acou-caulk.asp http://www.soundprooffoam.com/acoustical_sealant.html http://quietsolution.com/html/quiets...FRZeSgodACtCCg http://www.cmsacoustics.co.uk/c-acou...dB_sealant.htm http://truesoundcontrol.com/products...FRtdSgoddDG7Cw and the list goes on. They all look like they would do the job. Has anyone here had any direct experience with such things? Thank-you, Ian

i like Auralex StopGap, water soluble when wet so its easy to clean up and it is inexpensive plus it works well.

I saw that and it looked good, Aurelex being the name for such things.
Thanks, Ian

Acoustic caulk is good for sealing seams and cracks and stuff, but if you have a larger space to fill (like wire ports thru walls), you may want to look at other options.
For sealing areas like wire ports, "Great Stuff" expanding foam can work rather well. It's very cheap, and available at Lowes, Home Depot, or Wal-Mart. It also ensures that you get a good seal, since the expanding foam fills all the gaps. Any excess can be easily trimmed with a blade, and if you still feel necessary, a small amount of the acoustic caulk like StopGap can be used over the top of it. |
