Fast Track Pro Stops Sending Audio!
Hi. I need help please! Twice already in the middle of my set in front of a lot of poeple my Fast Track Pro just suddenly Quits working on me. I am using Ableton Live, Main outs 1-2 go to the speakers, 3-4 are for my phones. Out of nowhere audio justo stops goig out. Live is still working, all outputs in Live are still active as if nothing has happened, just that my Fast Track wont send the Audio out of 1 and 2. Its still on, the blue light is still there, but audio just stops. I have to turn it off and back on for it to work again. And it sucks in the middle of a set. Has this happened to anyone? I am using a MacBookPro 17 inch, 2 gigs. Intel core duo 1.
(By the way, don't connect your audio devices in the left USB slot of your macs because it doesn't have enough power or something. Every time you move the mouse audio will momentarliy stop. That sucks too.) |

i know exactly what you mean. that happens to me and i run it from my main computer only. i think it has to do with memory space on your computer. my computer is filled almost completly with music files and stuff. sound will quit working randomly but when i reset my computer it works just fine.

im experiencing the same exact problem with my machine too.
thing is it has nothing to do with memory since i have almost 400GB of free space. this seems to happen with any audio software i have installed(ableton, winamp, jetaudio, cubase wahtever..). audio output just dies after an unknown amount of time, sometimes 15 minutes sometime 15 hours , who knows... when the audio dies all audio softwares are unfunctionable since the audio is beying "held hostage" untill i power off the fast track pro and power it back on, then the audio returns for an unknown duration till it dies again. the real pain is that this machine i BRAND NEW: dual core e6600 2GB DDRII 800mhz ASUS DH DELUXE m-bpoard 2 250GB SATA WD hard drives and the bigger pain is that the m-audio support are absolutely cluless about this!!!!! piece of junk wish i havent bought the damn thing from start! ive seen a lot of people with the exact same problem on different forums, did anybody got this sorted out? any clues? or should i just toss this crap to the trash?!

Have you guys killed the power management features concerning the USB audio device?
Have you disabled the hibernation function? Have you set monitor, hard disk and system standby to never turn off? Have you disabled the screen saver? Are you all using no other USB device on that hub? Have you all made sure that the USB hub isn't sharing an IRQ? |

hey guys, this was a while back but i actually figured out the source for all the troubles ive been having (although i couldnt fix it)
ill just copy paste it from another forum i posted it on: this might sound a bit wierd but the problem that kept on hanging the audio card was nothing to do with the computer. apperantly (and this came to me after a long time of beying clueless) each time i switch the light on at the bathroom it causes the audio card to hang, now the strange thing is that if the light at my room is on then switching the bathroom light wont hang the card but switching it off will, and there are also a few more variations for it to hang now the light at my bathroom is a fluorescent bulb, and i have noticed that the card hangs on the second time the fluorescent bulb flickers and thus lights on, so my guess is that the fast track pro is either way to delicate with the electricity curcits in my appartment or i might have to buy a stronger power supply to my pc (i have now a thermaltake 500W), id like to add that absolutly NOTHING ELSE hangs on the pc exept the fast track pro, and im saying that even when i play battlefield and turn the switch on only the audio dies, the game keeps going, so maybe the power supply is not the issue after all. now its been more than six months, and ive been using the onboard audio card instead, kinda of a waste of money, untill ill move out or could afford another audio drive with out this trouble, if anybody got this thing worked around id luv to hear how |

Interesting observation cyberboof,
Have you tried using a quality power conditioner with the setup? Welcome to the forums. |

I just installed USB Monitor (Device Monitoring Studio). It's a software, which lets me record all USB communication with Fast Track Pro so all USB packets and signals can be analysed. I hope to "record" the moment when the sound from FT Pro stops and to find some kind of evidence that could indicate what's the source of our problem.
http://www.hhdsoftware.com/Products/...b-monitor.html cyberboof> Did you try a good reliable DC adaptor? It can be used as an alternative power supply instead of USB power supply. I'm using the USB power supply of course. itsplayed> I'm using the hibernation so I don't want to disable it. But I set HDD to never turn off. Two USB Host Controllers shared the same IRQ. The firt one was used to connect FT Pro, the other one was unused. I could not change the IRQ of the unused one, so I turned it off. Now the problem is, that the name of the other one is USB2 Enhanced Host Controller. As I turned it off, my USB Flash Drive was running slower. So it disabled the USB 2.0 protocol. I'll see what can I do after reboot. |

I plugged FT Pro to USB port that doesn't share IRQ with any other device, but the problem remains the same, nothing has changed.

Is the FTPro a 1.1 card or is it 2.0 compliant....I know that some devices that are USB 1.1 can take issue when connected to an enhanced 2.0 USB port. |

Does this issue occur under low volume use or just under heavy load? This issue may be due to a bandwidth leak within the USB2.0 bus and there is a hotfix available from Microsoft. This hotfix may or may not solve your issue, but you'll need to fill out a request form in order to recieve it. Go to Microsoft.com and perform a search for hotfix #924692. Remember to create a restore point before attempting any changes to the system. Last edited by itsplayed; 12-09-2007 at 08:00 AM. |

I have 512MB of RAM. Problem occurs mainly when I play a game (that's heavy load for sure) but also when I start Windows and only play a couple of songs in Winamp.
I'll try the bugfix, big thanks! |
