New Studio Picture

There is still the floor and trim that needs to be finished - but I ran out of money So the floor will have to wait till after the Holidays. New walls,, desk, Novation ReMote 25 SL (thanks AudioDude!), new Mackie Big Knob, new KRKs. Still waiting on some additional acoustic treatment to be shipped. Overall, I'm happy.

From the Captains chair

Door into tracking area - not the best place acoustically - being in a corner. Also a couple of my basses.

like the KRKs - been listening to them to get used to them. I gave my review of them in the Gear Review section. I made the traps - 4inches of compressed fiberglass batting material.

At least you can stay warm in there - its cold here about 15F (-9C) outside. The studio requires long sleave shirts in winter - sometimes sweaters.

Looks like a good reward for hard work DC. Just tell me those track lights are on a fader or I'll have to send a email smacking...J/K. Looks very nice, good work. I'm house hunting at the moment an my wife is actually looking for unfinished basements or ones that can be altered for my mixing/studio space. She knows she gets her own room if I get part of the basement for studio space Keep us posted on some sounds from the new room.

Sabianq, a colleague of mine re-did his basement like DC's studio and his live room has almost the exact looking fireplace. It adds nice ambiance...and a non-parallel wall on the opposite side...haha. Actually, has there ever been a report on brick and reflection since it is a somewhat porous, not smooth surface? There has to be absorption ratio that differs from sheetrock, concrete, etc.

Howie J.

P.S. Happy New Year

P.P.S. DC, you guys are getting all of our Minnesota snow and cold. Our first major snow was on New Year's eve. WTF??

HA!
It does stay nice and warm in the room. although with the stove going, it can actually get uncomfortably warm in there so i end up opening up a window which can let in unwanted noise from the outside.

regardless, i got a new gas heater and heat exchanger last summer almost eliminating the need for me to split and haul wood. ( i do have a big pile of it outside just waiting to be burned, i think i will keep it for when civilization goes to crap and i need an alternate fuel source)

The bricks are acoustically wonderful, with the fact that the room is totally irregular in shape, there is absolutely no slap back unless you stand in one particular tiny area.

BTW, Happy New Year!
