Just purchased new studio equipment (compressor and m audio interface)
Im running condensor mic to presonus preamp to samson condensor to m audio firewire solo interface to computer....Im using the recording program Cool Edit 2.0....whenever I record vocals from my mic...im only getting the top half or bottom half of the vocals being recorded depending on which unbalanced input slot it is plugged in to.... HELP ? |

it seems like your recording in stereo. the problem is the your mic is a mono input source. you have to record in mono. hope it helps.

Yeah...but where or how do i change it to mono? is it in cool edit? where do i find it to change it?

i havent used cool edit in years, but you could either convert to mono, or make a mono channel and drag the audio to the mono channel. but either or. its still mono. as long as its not cliped or distorted. then you'll be fine. just for future references, dont record stereo...

Whenever you click on "Record" you get a dialogue to select the Sample Rate, Bit Depth, and Stereo-Mono UNLESS you first select "New" or "Create a new file". Then you get exactly the same dialogue as I just described. From there, when you click on Record, it just starts recording.
