Help with key editor in Cubase 5!!!

Basically i had cubase 4 and everything was fine, until one day the key editor messed up. Whenever i try to enter a note it automatically puts the note on to the first beat of the 2nd bar... no matter where i put it, that is where it ends up. I installed cubase 5 today with the hope that it would work but same problem occurs. I really need this one sorted and any help would be so appreciated

I know this sounds very obvious but it helps to start somewhere at least. Are the settings on the snap to grid set correctly?
