MOTU 2408 mkII and the 324 card.

I've been given one of these cards in trade for a computer i dont use. I have no interest in upgrading to the 424 card to use in my mac since that 300 bucks for an obsolete sound board....BUT....

...i DO have a P4 machine that used to be my old recording rig that im thinking about using. Ive searched all over but its hard to find info on its PC compatibility.

Any thoughts? Will this work?

i havent posted in other forums...but im tech savvy enough to see if this works out.

Truth be told i havent gotten my hands ACTUALLY on the card yet...trade happen on friday....so i did want to inundate the boards with questions till i had the proper answers.

Im fairly sure it will work though. Its just sad ill have to migrate back to PC for producing for a time...=\

just set up a dedicated rig with the motu and the pci 324.
before you install xp, you need to go into the bios and turn off the onboard sound if it has installed audio on the mobo.
the MS legacy drivers are unpredictable with motu.
do not install the card yet.
install xp
update xp
install DAW
shutdown
reboot
install the motu drivers
shut down
install the pci card.
plug in the 2408 to the pci card turn on
reboot...

Very cool...i'll certainly do that. Are the sound drivers the only reason you suggest freshly building my OS? (not that i dont feel it needs a rebuild anyway, as its been too long...just curious)

Ironically...since MS and OSX are dual booted on the same machine...that wont be so hard. =]

Anyone using 324 pci on a core 2 duo pc ???
I try to install one on my new machine but it just can't start the device. Win 7 os.
It works just fine on an older pc ( pentium 4 ) with win 7 as well, so it is not an os issue. I think in is a mobo chipset issue, and I would like to know on which mobo it is running o.k.

thanks

Cannot install MOTU 2408 MKII on pc!

I have a problem.
I'm trying to install a MOTU 2408 MKII with the PCI 324 card in a PC with this motherboard: 'Asrock G965M-S' and this processor 'Core 2 Duo E7200 2,53 GHz' with Windows XP Sp3.

I cannot make it work with the classic steps to install (download driver from motu.com "Audio Interface Software - PCI-324" // Install // Shut down // plug and turn on MOTU // power on Pc - and then it should appear a configuration screen or something... but I don't see it)

I've used this in my Mac G3 and worked just fine.

Does anybody know how to make it work???? PLEASE!

ohh.. try changing out the "firewire" cable with a shorter, newer shielded one.
i did this when i was having stability issues and simply changing the cable made all of the difference in the world.

it might be worth a try..

cheers!

you should update the PCI-324 to a PCIe-424..

there are known issues with the 324 card and a dual (multi) core system..
