ProTools book

I've run a couple of searches of the forum, and I can't seem to find any threads on this, so I thought I would post. If someone can point me to a thread, I would appreciate it. I'm looking for a good book on ProTools. Something approachable, but not like a "for dummies" book. There's endless amounts of material out there on PT, but I thought I would hopefully trim that down to what people on this forum have found useful. I'm more of a hands on learner, but it's damn near impossible to just try out ProTools without making a serious investment.

It's overkill for the kind of recording I do, but as it's an industry standard, not knowing could be a difference-maker down the line. My company does mostly voiceover and narration. That's it. We wouldn't use most of the editing features, as a straight wave editor is much easier to work with in our situation. I'm just looking for information, and reading seems like a good place to start.

Thanks,
Rob

I got 4 books on protools from when I went to Full Sail. Each one is a little more advanced than the other. Usually our teachers write the books but I think for these they pretty much got them from digidesign. So I would try going to Digidesign. I believe they also have courses to teach you, and to get certified.

The only books I know of are the official courseware books. They start at PT 101 an introduction to pro tools (which is for dummies), followed by PT 110, 210 and 310, 310 being operator level. With the exception of 101, there are 2 versions of each book, one for music and one for post production, so they are entitled 110m 110p 210m 210p, get the idea? They are desiged for Digidesign's official qualifications and are usually issued to students studying at a Pro Tools school, but you can purchase them privately.Hope this helps.
