drummer in a box
hey all,
i'm looking for sample playback hardware with a foot switch by which i can trigger several bits that i've pre-recorded and loaded seperately. i basically want to play guitar and sing and have looped sample beats playing simultaneously but i want to be able to shift through samples as i go along (my songs have several parts) whenever i choose. i've tried the rc-50 boss looping station but that one has only 3 pedals per song, whereas i would prefer an option of something like 7. (also, all the looping stuff on the rc-50 i don't need, i prefer making my loops on my computer). i know that there are lots of standard samplers that use keyboard keys but i need to do this with my foot and will only be able to switch to a new set of (7) loops once the song's finished. maybe it's a lot to ask but i just hate dragging an extra person on stage just in order to hit a few keys whenever i want him to. oh yes, any suggestions combining different samplers/pedals are okay, as long as it doesn't get insanely expensive. thanks |

I use a Roland SPD-S (its an electronic drumset, but will do.. and comes with pre-loaded examples....of what you want.) Well worth the $, but you need to give us a clue. |

hey tim, thanks for replying.
budget-wise i was thinking more or less 700$ tops. i've checked out some clips and reviews of that roland spd-s and it really looks promising. just a few things i haven't been able to figure out: 1) can you activate an endless loop by simply hitting the pad once? 2) if not, how long can samples you load last? 3) can samples be loaded only via cd (or also for instance via usb)? 4) can you assign six different samples/loops to a patch/song and after a song's finished easily switch between patches/songs (manually i assume)? 5) are the pads easily foot tappable? since these pads are designed to be activated with a small stick do you personally believe this will work in a live environment standing upright singing and playing guitar at the same time? thanks for helping out. |
