does anyone know the Audiotrack Soundcards such as MAYA? are they reliable when it comes to sound quality and configuration? would you reccommend it?

I've used them many times. The cards that dont use 3.5mm jacks are great as they have ASIO2,gsif ect.. With the consumer cards like the maya5.1 just make sure it has asio2 drivers, only the maya 7.1 has asio 2 from memory.
The maya 44 mkII is an excellent budget card with 4 ins and 4outs with mic pres, phantom power and headphone amp all built in.

ASIO is the preffered driver or to be 100% correct API of all professional software for recording. If you dont have asio drivers then you are severly limited in what your software can do.
I can only recommend the cards on the audiotrak site which are in the DTHM category and not the consumer cards which they also make for dvd apps.
