After doing tons of shopping on-line for Isolation booths I became very frustrated because the prices were just off the map and way too much for what you get. I decided to take things into my own hands because there was no way I was paying $2200 for a Vocal Booth.
So how could I design my ISO-Booth to be effective, light, inexpensive and portable.
After going through the whole experience from start to finish I decided to share the secrets of my success. My vocal recordings are tighter and way more up front than before, and there is absolutely no room noise period. Room noise is a good thing when it comes to drums and other instruments, but sometimes you need total isolation so you do not get an undesired room effect in your tracks. Multiply that by the amount of harmonies and your mix is hurting from a bad room sound.
So take a look at this sample "Windows Media Video" and check it our for yourself. So how much do you think you can save going this route? About $1500 VS. Whisper Room style ISO Booths.
