Having trouble gettin a soft synth to work in Fruity

I am having some trouble trying to record stuff I do on my soft synth in Fruity...it's a VST plugin by the name of FM7. I put it on an effects channel, and assign a instrument channel to the FX channel(the one with the soft synth VST), and it won't play back when I put stuff on the piano roll for the instrument, although it says there is input coming in...help me!

I may be mistaken but I was under the impression that for synths they need to be added as their own channel in the step sequencer. Not added as effects on an existig channel. Click add one at the top of the screen and go to more and find the FM7 and add it from there. Then select it as a channel option should be ok.

Thanks man! It works now..and I even have a song!! Right now I'm keeping the song to myself, but later on I'll let you people hear it. ^_^
