question about making sounds for games?

sorry i didnt know where to post this. does anyone know what program you use to make gun shots foot steps etc for video games, basically effect sounds?

I work in radio and there are 2 ways to get the sounds you are looking for...#1 make them...in other words get a gun turn on the mic and fire.
The easy way is to get some sound effects CD's...they're relatively inexpensive and can be bought on line...even your local music shop will have them.

You got it right there Skip. I use both techniques. I have the Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox libraries from Sound Ideas and some Hollywood Edge libraries but when possible I try to make fx and in game music.

Currently I'm working on a Call of Duty and Medal of Honor mod. I'm also in beta testing of a map I did audio for of Enemy Territory where all the explosions were recorded in my back yard and some guns were recorded at a local firing range.
