People,

Encoded all my tunes to the Real Audio format (for my music website.) I used the Real Networks plug-in SoundForge 4.0. I also opted for Multi-Rate *SureStream,* whereby the audio is encoded at multiple bit rates, to be streamed at a quality level commensurate with the user's bandwidth.

So far, on my own PC, the songs stream at a steady rate of 97 (& I am running DSL, at about 750!)

Now, lately, my free Real Player takes forever to load any tunes at all, whether from the web, or from my own machine.

Sometimes, when I'm checking out new music on the web; & am unsuccessful in streaming an mp3 on Real Player . . . the same tune will have no volume when streamed in Windows Media Player!

What the **** is going on with Real Networks? Should I just go out & get Real Producer, or is there something wrong with my Real Player because it's free? Why would it screw up other media systems?

Should I just dump the format & find a Web Hosting service with Windows Media Server?

Very frustrated,
