You talking production or for automation? Cool Edit Pro or Saw works good for production. DRS2006 looks like an interesting contendor on the automation side.

I think this is what your looking for DRS 2006 (http://www.drs2006.com) . The basic version is under 100 bucks if you can believe that and the full version is under 600 bucks not including the add ons.
I've used RCS and some others that feel and look like they're from the 80's but from what I can tell this seems pretty nice. We're running the the demo for a few weeks here at Radio Chaos (http://www.radiochaos.ca) before we make any decisions. They have a good support as well. Can't go wrong in my book. Cheers!

I used MediaTouch at a Radio Network for a while. I understand it is realtively inexpensive. It supports multiple contact closures is the reason the network went with it.
Some of the things I did not like about it were supposed to be updated in the recent upgrade:
Backtiming element was non-existant
no Touch screen support.
no quick fade (in Scott Studios for example, the WX bed is a 2 punch. Opening with :60 of bed and a close. The automation fires the opening..talent taps 'next' to fire close, Scott quick fades the bed, while playing the close)In mediatouch you would have to pull the board fader down and stop the bed in the automation. If you failed to stop the bed the EOM would trip another element.

the SAW line is pretty much obsolete anyways, since IQS is no more. someone is taking over the SAW STUDIO software, but you are outta luck if you have saw plus or pro. no loss anyways, as it was way overpriced, and the more advanced it got, the more complicated it got, specifically, I found it to be "the long way around" compared to CEP and tripleDAT, but maybe I missed a few shortcuts...
TripleDAT's multitrack has CEP beat, with the ease of making changes and renaming audio regions (can't seem to do that in CEP) plus, I can put on SFX on a region without effecting the original file, can't do that in CEP to me knowledge.
still, CEP is the best for it's price range, and it's presets beat Tripledat. I wish syntrillium would take the ease of Tdat and put it into CEP 2.0

Maybe I miss understood the question and need to edit my earlier suggestion. I thought we were talking about automation software instead of production software.
By "Automation",I thought we were talking about "virtual cart walls/players" The software that allows for live computer assist or voice-tracking a DJ shift kinda thing...
