The question I asked was... "Should I begin looking for something new?", it was not a plea for an understanding of work ethics or party politics.
I do my best work all day everyday and even have had sales, of all people, tell me that I should be getting paid overtime for the work I do at home after regular hours.
The sad ending to the story is... the day after I wrote my original post, I was offered a spot in TV Creative. Less work, bigger office, nicer equipment and a raise... Yes Virgina, there is a Santa Claus.

Your question was 3 fold:
1)"Is it time to move on"
2)"or talk to the PD about shifting the focus of my job."
3)"What would you do?"
My response to:
#3- I would keep working, providing the best possible product for the station..AND your demo.
#2 -Have you asked about the opportunity of full time employment? Give them a chance to respond.
#1-If they have nothing to offer then I'd think it would be OK to send out resumes and demos. But..while you are still there, always give your best efforts, don't make a spectacle of yourself and don't burn bridges, you will still need their reference.
Often when someone is discouraged in their work they can become bitter and allow their work or work ethic to suffer. This is especially true if they have decided to pursue employment elsewhere. It was not an indictment but a caution to not allow it to happen. Your post read as if you were discouraged with what was going on at work. I stand by my remarks and I do not think I lost the point.
btw/ Congratulations on your promotion. Apparently the point was moot. It's great to see your hard work rewarded.

I agreed...I support you as well, because that's how I read the initial post.
for the record, I myself have gone through the discouragement you describe. the people I worked with directly everyday were great and I did my best to compromise to get the job done the best I could...and I succeeded. but one guy in management basically didn't like me (maybe it's because I said no once when he wanted me to work one weekend and I said no...this was when I was exhausted after working 2 weeks straight, sometimes 16+ hour days to get ready for a station launch...I had to think of my health!!) and the workload and nitpicking increased. I can only do so much, the guy wouldn't listen that I could use an assistant, so it was time to leave, but I left with my head held high, because I knew it was THEIR problem. I gave it my best, still, I felt bitter for a few months, but have finally let it go for the most part, and we all know what goes around comes around anyways. I'm doing volunteer work for a community station which has really brought my confidence back up, something I didn't get with my previous employer about my ability, so hopefully, I'll find something paying soon.
congrats on the TV gig!
