I'm attempting to move from Win98 to Win2K, but the PCI-324 install from my CD doesn't appear to support Win2K. I was able to install the new WDM drivers from the MOTU web site, but I can't run the PCI-324 Console because the app is too old for the new drivers (and I couldn't find an updated version on the MOTU web site).
Where do I get the latest version of this software (not just the drivers) and how are people doing the upgrade to Win2K?
I've tried MOTU tech support, but don't even get me started!!

Are you sure you've downloaded the right files? I just downloaded it 3 days ago, Installed that only (the console comes with it). It's 1400k in size, the driver, mix cue, and console are all in one file.
Well, in case you grabbed the wrong file, heres the link. http://www.motu.com/downloads/pci324/324_setup.zip

Thanks for the help. I had the right update, but I was running the older console because Motu installs the new version in a different folder than before.
I got everything installed okay, but now the 2408 doesn't initialize correctly and when I run console, I get "An error has occurred in the PCI-324 driver: Could not communicate with the 324 card. Please contact MOTU tech support." We all know where that last bit of "advise" will lead.
Anyone have any suggestions on what might be the problem?

You have to shut down, pull the card, turn on your pc, uninstall the old driver and consoles, restart, install the new driver and consoles, shut down, put the card in, start up, and it should be recognized and set up automatically.
I know it's a pain in the arse, but ya gotta do it.
Hope it helps.

I've been putzing around with this thing for the last couple of days, and still no luck. I'm certain I've got everything installed okay (I even reinstalled Win2K and disabled ACPI.) I did install the drivers first, power down, plug in the PCI-324, and reboot. The system correctly recognized the card and installed it with the new drivers. That's as far as I get, though. The driver doesn't seem to be able to communicate with the card.
Geez, this is the proverbial rock and a hard place. I've done all that I can think of on my end, but of course can't seem to get tech support from MOTU! Where the hell are they, anyway? They don't even answer their phones! If the flexibility and quality of the 2408 wasn't perfect for my needs, I'd think about dumping it. Frustrating to say the least.

You might try flashing the BIOS to the latest version. You can get it at http://www.asus.com/products/motherboard/bios_s370.html#cuv4x-e. This board is based on the VIA 686 Chipset, which is known to have issues with the PCI-324 card. If it used to work on Win98 but it won't on WIn2K, maybe the latest BIOS will help.
Good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I have v. 1004 and there is a v. 1005e posted. I checked out the bios updates at the beginning of this week and I would absolutely swear there was no v. 1005e when I looked. Version 1005e is dated 10/05/2001, so it's entirely possible that they made the build then, but just posted the update this week. . . at least I'd like to think I didn't miss anything so obvious. Anyway, thanks for the help and I'll try the flash tonight.

just spent the good half of a night installing XP Pro on my uncle's machine.
installed the MOTU card drivers with a few problems at first, here's how i got round them:
left the card in the machine through the install...when XP finished installing it recognised a new Multi Media interface(the card i left in)...do not install drivers for it.
run setup.exe for the MOTU card which installs the 2 apps it uses. when you first run setup it may give an error saying it could not find 'Read Me' etc. ...continue with the setup.
when install completes, without rebooting run the same setup.exe again, this time it should not give the 'Read Me' error.
in Control Panel, right click on the yellow question mark driver, go to properties and remove it.
reboot your machine, hey presto, it worked for me...upon reboot Win XP recognised the MOTU2408 card and installed the drivers for it...all worked fine...now, to get his Logic running... http://www.audioforums.com/forums/frown.gif

Thanks for the reply. I should have followed up on this, but forgot. The problem was not in installing the card and drivers, but in getting the drivers to communicate with the card. Anyway, there's good news and there's bad news. The bad news is that I just could not get it to work so I threw in the towel. The good news is that I swapped the "bad" motherboard (VIA chipset) with a "good" one (Intel i815e chipset) and I'm back up and running.
BTW, the key to getting through to MOTU tech support is to keep redialing until they answer. I was told they have twenty lines and you just have to keep trying until one opens up. Just be patient and keep hitting "redial".

I had much the same problem with WinXP Pro (similar to Win2K).....the MOTU software would not run from the disk...
I DLed the newest drivers, Installed them, rebooted and let the plug and play "add new hardware" (PCI card)....THEN ...
HAD TO REINSTALL the new MOTU drivers AGAIN....
not in the manual!!
But that fixed it IMMEDIATELY....had to install MOTU drivers AFTER the plug and play sequence....hmmmmmm
Good Luck!
