Hey all

I'm strictly a protools user at this point in time. I've had no experiance with MOTU or DP. I just wanted to here from DP users who also have experiance with protools. How does DP compare to Protools as an Audio editor. In short the self imposed limtitation by Digi on their 001 system is starting to piss me off (i.e limited to 24 track count, no smpte ruler ect ect. now i've heard they don't plan on supporting UAD and other third party powered plugins). If anyone can share their honest opinon on this, it would help my descion alot. Thanks

I haven't had the opportunity to use PT, but I was at the Digidesigns show in Toronto and did get to see PT in auction, I have to say if you're not a MIDI user and don't care for MIDI then stay with PT, but if you do a lot of MIDI then definitely go with DP. As for limitations, yes 001 very week unit compared to Motu's hardware, but if you upgrade to PT core system then there is no competition between the two. If money isn't an issue, then switch, if not then stay. If you do switch and won't like it, you can always go back since you already know how to use PT.
