I am using 2 MOTU 1224's and a P3 1Ghz and Windows 2000 and SONAR. The new WDM driver beta4 that MOTU has put out really smokes. I am getting 1.3ms of latency! UNBELIVABLE!! I wouldnt hardly belive it if I hadnt seen(heard) it for myself! I was using a MAC G4 on Digital Performer 2.7. I decided to switch to PC recently. I NEVER got close to the this little of latency on my MAC! And, believe it or not Im running much more stable. This setup is the best Ive ever had and recomend it to anybody thinkin of switching to PC

I'm wondering what latency did you get on your Mac with DP. What model was used, Ram drives, please give me all the specs? How many tracks? Plug-Ins? I just ordered a 1224 and will be on G4/400 with 512MB and two SCSI 10K - running four tracks and two plugs. what latency should I expect?

I never actually measured the latency on DP 2.7 but, I have read that it was between 6-10ms max. I could tell the difference when I switched to SONAR though. SONAR has a way of running a wave profiler to determine I/O latency of your sound cards drivers according to your buffer settings. I have it totally maxed out. I cannot run more than 10 tracks and record 2 at the same time with these buffer settings. But I can play back 24 at 2.7ms buffer settings. I had to write this thread because I am so impressed with SONAR and Windows 2000.Windows has made a big jump in performance finnally. It really got a bad name in the recording industry because of 98/95 being so unstable, and I am one that fought with it for years. That is why I finnally switched to Mac (G4 400mghz 512 pc100 sdram)but, when Windows went to 2K and cakewalk wrote SONAR to utilize WDM I decided to switch back.I do admit my mac ran really well and very stable but I really liked Cakewalk PRO9 better(probably just preference)and SONAR is much better than that!

That's it just 10 tracks. I bet you were getting a better performance with G4 and latency under 10 ms. The reason I was asking, because I have RME DIGI card and just bought a 1224 unit - still in the mail so I don't know which one to keep. Will see after I hook up both of them.
Congratulations!
Now, if MOTU would only release a WDM driver for Win 98se!
the beta3 driver worked fine on my 2408.the beta4 wdm pci324 console wouldn't open error says something like;(file or app too old) so rather than go thru the e-mail shuffle with motu i just reinstalled the beta3 wdm drivers again.os win98se;5.8ms stable on sonar.

You mean to tell me that the 324_setupb3.zip works with Win 98se?
they don't label it that way; but, yes it does work. so do the two betas before it. beta4 may also work but i don't have the time to fool with it yet.win98se does come with wdm support.i have been reading about great results in win2000 and will probably switch or dual boot eventually.
