I'm strongly considering the DD 001. Does someone know the analogous MOTU equipment and any comparisons? Greatly interested.

Check the MOTU site. There's a table of all the various I/O boxes you can configure.
Better A/D convertors, almost limitless I/O options, compatability with ProTools TDM rigs, and that nice little Unicorn emblem made MOTU the better choice than Digi 001 for me. And upgrading Audio Desk, which comes with any MOTU core system, to Digital Performer will put a smile on your face.

Hello Bob, I'm flummoxed by your statement that a MOTU rig can be compatible with PT/TDM systems. Which configuration, and/or how ? I have a 2408mkII, and a DA7 console. I ended up w/Nuendo after trying to force PT 5.1 to recognise the 2408, but I never got past 2 tracks I/O. I mean, of course I could record all of the tracks I wanted, but I couldn't output them to the 2408 channels. Was there something I could have done? I just accepted the fact that digi software would only work with digi hardware.

My bad, I should have been clearer on the compatability thing. What I meant to say was, any projects you do on a MOTU system using either the Audio Desk software that comes with the core systems or the Digital Performer upgrade software can be taken to a ProTools TDM rig and opened there. http://www.audioforums.com/forums/redface.gif
