View Full Version : Is the A/D converter of 2408Mkii...
I have recently bought a new 2408Mkii system.
I would like to ask is the A/D converter of
2408Mkii good enough to record analog for
production? how does it compare to these
converters found at other sound cards?
I read from the manual that the converter
is only 64xoversampling... is it enough?
is the quality ok?
Any expert here could give me an answer??

Well recording quality is a very subjective thing and isnt nearly as important as people seem to think but yeah the motu is certainly good enough quality for pro production.
I read in a review that the 24i sounded better that the Delta 1010, so you could see if the specs/converters are the same.

Good enough for production? I should think so. There may be noticable improvement with some other cards but I'm sure it's still in the relm of pro quality. It's easy to become anal about all this after reading spec after spec. I know I do.
I was temted to buy one of these cards but the 64x oversampling spec scarred me off, also the lack of 96khz sample rate. Motu has just come out with there premium analog I/O module, the 2496, which has 12 analog I/O, 128x oversampling A/D & D/A plus 96khz sample rate & better S/N spec. Now I want one of these, but this puppy lists for $2K!! http://www.audioforums.com/forums/eek.gif
