The POD series, amp farm, amplitube, or warp vst? I know nothing beats the real thing...but what amp sim does everyone here prefer? I like the Pods and amplitube, ive gotten some decent sounds from both of those.
What do you think...

You need a program that supports vst plugins.
For the value and performance Amplitube is the best I have ever heard.
Stomp box efx, amp modeling & studio efx. Nothing else comes close. RTAS, HTDM & VST.

OK I have Cubasis VST demo installed and Amplitube installed in the vst plugins folder but I can't get it to work. Where do I get the amplitube plugin to "turn on" Also I am using a Soundblaster live card tried running guitar through mic port and line in and niether one made any diff when I tried standard effects that Cubase has.
Do I have the wrong version of cubase installed?? Tho one I am using is called Cubasis VST Demo
Please help I would love to get this working. I know latency may be a prob but I would at least like to hear it first! Its either this or a POD line 6 and I am to cheap to run out and buy one.

Well jwnc (jason) does work for IK multimedia, so naturally he's gonna boast about Amplitube.
But yes amplitube is a great plugin, one of most versatile and sounds great, but is memory hungry and I don't think it nails authentic amp models as well as POD or V-amp.
To ruin amplitube, you can only use it as channel insert . Click on INS on the channel mixer then select the plguin from the insert window.

Amplitube is cool, but personally I prefer Amp Farm. No, it doesn't have chorus, delay, etc. as Amplitube does, but I've got other plug-ins which do that just fine. I just think the Amp Farm models sound better.

Alien Connection's ReValver Direct X plug-in is also quite nice. Lots of options and effects, though it does eat up tons of processing power

Yeah, I've got to give another thumbs up
for ReValver. It's VERY flexible and you
can cook up some great presets.

Sorry M8, guess you've listened to nothing
else then! Amplitube does sound great, no
doubt about it, but as far as value is
concerned...GIVE ME A BREAK!! For the
same $399 that IK charges for Amplitube
you can buy ReValver AND a Line 6 POD
AND have change left over for a LOT of
beer!!

just stumbled across the amp simulator debate...i still miss my '73 marshall but...i have to admit revalver does a pretty good job. I also have an original sans amp. Doesn't have alot of features , cabinet effects etc. tones imho are a bit purer, less processed sounding, but it all depends on what kind of sound you're into...for most of us fellow guitar players, tone is the elusive holy grail...By the way, has anyone been able to use revalver in real time without annoying latency? I'm running a 1gig athlon win2k 512 ram, motu828 firewire and still the plug in requires so much processing power that low latencies are all but impossible. i've also had good results recording with the sans amp relativly clean and adding revalver latter...any tips?
