When I choose the project at the start you can choose Yamaha and Roland drum effects. Why is it that even when I choose Roland or yamaha drums I am always stuck with the same ****** cheesy keyboard sounds that you get on cheap keyboards?
Is there any way I can get some good sounds for dance music out of this overpriced piece of **** ?

Return all your equipment for a refund and use the money for keyboard lessons.
But really, are you serious?

Try reading the manual. You won't go blind, I promise http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif

A mind is a terrible thing to waste?
Only if you have one.
Judging by the inital posting, Banamanhulk left his in the garbage on the way to the music store. That is quite possibly the most thoughtless, mindless post I have read on these forums. To not even have the sense to post it in the Cakewalk forum, or to even mention what bit of software he is having trouble with, beggars belief. And Bananmanhulk, I assume that you are assuming that just because you select Roland or Yamah drums from the list, the machine itself will actually MAKE those noises? Those are drum maps, for mapping drum sound names to MIDI notes on the keyboards from the respective manufacturers. ASSUMING you have bought a legitimate copy of this software, go and read the manual - book 1, page 1 would be a good place to start, and don't bother coming back until you at least know what a MIDI lead is.

The manual, the manual - so much information and for naught.
It's a strange world we live in - very few people actually read the manual, but then when a company like Steinberg does away with the hardcopy manual, people bitch up and down about it. Sheesh! They were just trying to save some trees and some $$ from having to print the darn things (which mostly go unread anyways...).

Don't even get me started on the 'I want it all and I want it NOW' syndrome that so many seem to suffer from...
