I wrote before asking about what programs are red book audio. I only had one response stating all CD programs are red book audio. This is not true. All CD programs (well - most), are orange book standards. The difference is - that red book audio is strictly for audio CD's (ie. CD Architect from Sonic Foundry - which has been discontinued).

The reason I ask is - I am in a band - and I own CD Architect - but it is no longer supported by my CD writer. And because it has been discontinued - I can not update the drivers - so I need to find a new program. Basically - I want a CD program that will allow me to fade one track into another - allow over lapping of tracks, and not be forced to have a 2 second gap in between tracks - that sort of thing. I have not found a program yet that will do that. I don't know the exact model of my CD Writer - but it is a Yamaha 16x write, 10x re-write - 40x read. I think it is the 2100 series. I have Steinbergs Wavelab - with all the updated drivers - but from some reason - my CD writer is not recognized.

If anyone out there uses a good audio burning programs that allows over lapping and fading - and is user friendly - please let me know. I have done searches on the internet - and from what I have found - everythign is MAC based.

Thanks in advance

Well it may be a bit of a luxury but Samplitude will of course do exactly what you need.
Get the 90 day fully working demo from www.samplitude.com (http://www.samplitude.com) and in case your writer is not supported straight away - look for the burner update on the same site.

If you are interested in still using your CD Architech, there is a free shareware program out called CDP Burn which will allow you to burn projects (.CDP)created in CDA with many of the newer burners.I believe the web site is www.projecteva.net. (http://www.projecteva.net.) I am not at my normal computer, so if that is not correct or need more info, give me a buzz.

Thank you both for your input. I donwloaded that samplitude - but I am at work - so I can't really play with it. I will download and try everythign mentioned above and see what works best. Thanks again - I really appreciate it.

I can't imagine why you'd want to switch from Wavelab especially considering how much money you've already spent on it and it is tremendously powerful. It seems a better route would be to troubleshoot why it isn't recognizing your burner (i'm sure steinberg could help you here).

Well - you see... I didn't exactly pay for wavelab. I was at soem underground website and downloaded the full blown version for free. I am a cooledit pro person - wavelab is good - but because I never spent any money on it - I am not fucused on using it. I have heard nothign but good things about it - but because it doesn't recognize my cd writer - and it was free - I have no desire to figure out how to burn CD's with it.
