Hello.

I am building a DAW for Giga/Sonar/Vegas and am curious about which chipset is best for audio applications....

Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Motherboard
Intel 875P

or

Asus P4P800 Deluxe
intel 865pe

thanks for any info.

I just finished building a system with an Intel D865PERL and a Pentium 4 @ 2.6 ghz.
I have 1 gig of ram running in a dual configuration, 430watt Antec PS, & a Zalman cpu cooler. Only had it up and running a few days, but it seems VERY promising so far. I'm running Windows XPpro, Sonar 1 xl (just pre-ordered 3...), Soundforge 5f, Waves Renaissance package 1 & 2, Autotune 3, Midiman Delta 1010, and for some reason my old SBlive Gold. Seems like the most stable and powerful computer I've ever had, so far...

I vote a thumbs up for the 865 chipset!

intel mobos and chipsets are tops overall for reliablility.

but the interaction with your soundcard is critical. more than whatever software you are running.

so make sure your soundcard "likes" whatever chipset the mobo has on it.
