Hey guys!! I need a little help here. I have a builder that can build a daw for me. But he asked what kind of parts I would want for it. So could anyone give any good specs for a new pc for me to be suitable for home recording and ultimately maybe a little more advanced? Parts and brand names would be helpful. You can just list the parts and specs, and if you could tell me what price range that it may run so he won't try to run the price up on me. Thanks in advance for your help.

Build charge???

If he is fair $200-$300 for full support and a replacement warranty.

If it is local you should be able to drop it off if it breaks down on you and they should fix it.

Now go make him build you a killer DAW.

The only thing I'd personally substitute would be an Asus P4P800 Deluxe, but the Intel board would be just as stable.

a very important factor is how your soundcard interacts with the "chipset" on your motherboard. the chipset is not the processor, it's more like a traffic cop directing data flow.

Echo recommends Via chips for their soundcards. But Via usually sucks. So it's all kind of wacky.

They only recommend Via if you're using AMD, not Intel.

Via doesn't really suck anymore, that's kinda old news with the new KT600 being only slightly behind the nForce2.

Intel does make some killer boards so that is a very valid point polaris.

Thanks

The Intel is about $10 less
