laptop out noise

when i hook up my compaq presario laptop to my stereo reciever i get alot of hiss when playing music or streaming off the net. however the hiss dissapears when ever i run an application or generally any process. i know this is common, but i cant find any solutions in the archives.


im running XP PRO
