hello, all. for the record, at the time of this posting it is 2:45am.

since i now have broadband internet connection, i took the liberty to listen to as many of the songs in forums asking for critique on the mix. i must say that i am amazed at the talent in these forums.

as well as being amazed, i also realized that i have a long way to go. i have so much to learn and so much to do before i even come close to what i've just heard. many of you may think i'm just a kid at 18 but i've read that 18 is when i'm supposed to start growing as an engineer if i do plan to become one. how's a kid that lives in a noisy dorm with absolutely no equipment gonna pull that off? i need to start finding a way to do this.

if you are wondering which songs i'm refering to you can pick almost anyone, although my favorites for tonight (or this morning, rather) were juppu's mixes of Francesca Lee's songs. utterly breathtaking.

i have a long journey ahead of me. perhaps the best way to start that journey at this time of night is to get some sleep.

sorry for babbling. this is what happens to me at this time of night. any advice on how to better my situation (in terms of learning the art of mixing and production)?

-X

Yeah, Xeno... Here's your first solid piece of advice: Go to bed at a reasonable hour, just like your mom told you!!!

Just teasin'!

Funnily enough, I was up all last night, first mixing a tune, then uploading it onto my site and in the morining (well, it was 5.30 pm when I got up), the band emails me and says: "We're really sorry but your mix was really **** ".

And they were right. http://www.audioforums.com/forums/frown.gif

Keep a clear head, don't attempt to do an important mixdown at 2 am when you have the flue, take a million brakes in each session, always know what you're doing and if you don't then blag your way through it or go home and sleep well.

Well, I forgot to do most of those things last night and ended up with a bad mix.

Thanks for your comments about Francesca Lee's stuff. I'm afraid I'm going to have to take them down pretty soon, so if anyone wants a listen, do it quick...

Cheers,

Juppu

Don't worry, Xeno, it's not brown-nosing. It is a skill that will win you more friends than foes. It's also a much more enjoyable way to go through life LOL!

Imitation - You irritating little twit. Do you ever have anything to contribute to these forums, or are you just here to smell up the place again?
