Hey fellas...

I got a quick question... On the Asus A7N8X-X mobo... I see that the integrated audio is powered by Realtek (which I believe is different than the Deluxe model). If a system is only being used for MIDI and softsynths, would the integrated audio on this MOBO suffice? Will it run at a low enough latency in Windows 2000 that using softsynths wouldn't be a problem?

thanks
jay

I'm not sure about the A7N8X-X. But I do have the A7N8X Deluxe.

The onboard sound is pretty good, but the ASIO drivers aren't the most stable thing in the world. When they work, they're pretty impressive (10ms latency or better) -- but they sometimes freeze up for me which causes FL Studio to freak out. The song keeps playing but there's no sound.

I read on several other message boards that people have problems with the ASIO drivers in the nForce2 boards... not just ASUS. If you can swing it, I'd recommend a dedicated audio card. I bought an Audiophile 24/96 and have been happy.

Edit: I use Windows XP Professional and have a AMD 2800+ Barton
