Weird stuff with M-Audio DUO

I'm having an interesting occurance with my M-Audio Duo, and was hoping maybe someone could point out where I'm going wrong. I just installed it this evening (using Sonar), and when I "checked" the microphone, there was about a 2 second delay until I heard my "check" come back to me. Any ideas? I moved the buffer speed up to fast, but there is still a delay, though not nearly as offensive. Is this odd delay something I'll have to deal with? Please tell me no!

If you wasn't with Sonar a would tell you to use ASIO drivers and to turn on Direct Monitoring.

AFAIK, Sonar supports WDM kernel streaming drivers that provide low latency. Try to use such drivers if M-Audio provides them.
