Does anybody know how I would go about connecting a four prong mic cable to standard three prong female XLR ins. It's for a CB radio mic that I think will give me a real dirty distorted sound for vocals and harmonica and who knows what else. Is there an adaptor?

I'm not sure what kind of connection you're trying to convert... Does it have an XLR-sized connector or is it slightly smaller?

Tell us more...

you're probably going to need some sort of pinout for the CB mic to know exactly how it's wired, otherwise it's just trial and error...

I'd just cut the old 4-pin plug off the CB mic and solder a standard 1/4" phone plug to the audio wires. You'll find that inside the CB mic cable there is only one shielded wire, that's the audio hot wire and ground, the other two wires are unshielded and you can just cut them away or ground them. You also might have to open up the mic case and jumper across the switch if you don't want to press and hold the mic button down all the time. The button operation could produce a loud click every time it's pressed.
