I have the following setup:
PC with delta 44 digital audio card
and Omni I/O breakout box then a
Korg Triton running into the Omni I/O.
Using Cakewalk Sonar for software.

I do most of my stuff on the triton sequencer.

If I want to get stuff from the triton into the computer - do I just play the song on the triton and then record it as an audio track in Cakewalk? Would I use MIDI?

What is this the best way to do it?

I would set it up so Cakewalk is the master midi clock and the triton is slave to the midi clock. When you press play in cakewalk it needs to start the sequencer in the triton. Mute any sequncer tracks you aren't dumping. Try to utilize as many outputs on the triton as possble in order to save time. This of course in dependant on how many inouts your audio card has. In this way you can do multiple passes (unless you're able to record 16 tracks at once)

I have basically the same setup and I save the song from the Triton as a SMF and put that disk in the computer and open Sonar then open the file from the floppy drive. It will take you a while to track each track but it will give you recording superiority over just the 2 track dump of your Triton. Remember, unless you need to, use a mono track when you record. It will save you CPU power. I learned the hard way.
Good Luck
