be installed in to run in sound forge?
i swear ive tried them all. and cant get sound forge to recognise it.

It doesn't matter where you install them. Direct X plugs are registered with the system and their locations are stored in the registry. As long as you don't move the DLL file, they should work fine. They may not have registered correctly though. You can manually do this. Go to a command prompt and type:
regsvr32 c:\blah blah blah
Make sure the path is correct and specify the whole file name. The easy way is to search your system for regsvr32.exe and COPY and paste it into whatever folder your plugin is in and just drag and drop the DLL file onto it.
VST plugins are not automatically registered with the system because they originated on Macs. The Mac OS has never had a registry so the location of the plug-ins needs to be specified in the application. When Cubase came over to the PC, this "folder" concept came with it.
