Hi, I'm a little new to producing beats from either of these programs -- I was just wondering, which do you recommend out of Acid and Fruity Loops and which one is better suited for hip hop beats? Or what else would be best for hip hop beats and what is Acid and Fruity Loops mainly used for?
Thanks in advance for helping out ~

i prefer Acid for producing beats. I know a few people that use fruity loops and have good results, but on the whole almost everyone I know who produces beats uses acid(some actually use pro tools). I just finished a hip-hop project in acid 4.0 and it is great. Acid 4.0 blows the othe acids away. it has dedicated EQ on each channel and you can actually run inserts as well.

It all depends on what kind of musician you are. If you don't play any at all and plan to use audio loops from sample cd's, then acid is the best bet. If you want to be original and program your own drum patterns and play your own chords and melodies, then fruity loops will do that for you. Personally, I only use fruity loops to make drum beats. I play the melodies through my keyboard and mix everything in acid. Most times though, I use my mpc to play drums. The sounds in fruity loops are great and worth sampling....which I do, and then play them from my mpc.

Personal preference. Back when I had only demo software to work with, I used to create loops in the FL demo and since I couldn't save my Fruity projects, I'd export the loops and arrange in the free version of Acid. That's a practice I still sometimes use just because that's kinda how I started. There is no "best" way. Check out Making Waves, as well. If you can get around the fact that you won't be learning any skills that will be transferable to any other software package, it's a pretty flexible program.

You can download both softwares and try them out. For me acid is the easiest.

I tried Fruity Loops and found it was okay up to a point. Acid is a lot more capable, and easy to create and string composite loops from one shot samples, and vary them as well. Acid is easier to get samples in, and as far as realism, a friend, and looper as well, thought my loops sounded very real. The samples and the creation of loops can't be beat.
