have some getting started questions. I have dj equipment and want to start recording myself to my pc as I spin. i was told that i need both a recording program and a tracking program. I just wanted to get an idea of what kind of quality programs are available for recording and tracking to the pc. any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

hey dt019
both sonic foundry programs; vegas and sound forge would work good for you, they have for me. the difference between the programs is this: Vegas is meant for multi-track recording which you might want if you are planning on recording your individual pieces of dj gear to seperate tracks and then getting the levels right after the fact. sound forge is essentially an audio editing program that will record a stereo audio file, which would be fine if you were confident that the mix straight off your board was good. any way both programs are very flexible and have good tools to put the final polish on your mix.
p.s. always try out the demo versions off the internet before buying.
