Would anyone who has upgraded to NR 2.0 encourage me to do the same? Is there a worthwhile improvement in sound quality? Are there fewer audible artifacts as suggested by the Sonic Foundry website? More than one poster has suggested one would be better off to get Cool Edit for noise reduction. Is this still the case? Thanks for sharing.

2.0 is absolutely worth it. Even after having been out for quite a while, it is a great plug.

Thanks for your reply. You indicate it is a great plug, however is it that much better than NR 1.0? In other words, I have NR 1.0. Is an upgrade worthwhile?

much better - you get that metallic swirl sound when using 1.0 with heavy reduction - 2.0 is much better at avoiding that even with heavey reduction.
with either version, a couple of milder passes usually work better than one heavy pass.

I especially like the feature of hearing what is being taken out. If you have too much signal with your noise, you can adjust back some. I don't know if the cool edit NR does this.

If I'm not mistaken, NR 1.0 can ONLY be used from within SF, whereas 2.0 is a DirectX app, and can be opened from any prog. that supports DirectX... Steve
