Don't you just love it when your in a creative flow, you have a tune that needs a little noise reduction to finish it off, you go to your Noise reduction 2.0...and it asks you to go to the Sonic Foundry website and register the product?! Well, not me.

Anyway, I try to go to the website and it's down. Now I can't register the the product. Not that I havn't registered it a total of TEN TIMES over the last year, but sometimes it is necessary to reload your system when a virus or something gets through.

So here I am, having to leave a pretty decent tune off my promo cd of the upcoming release for a radio station.

Thank you Sonci Foundry. Thank you very much.

Tomorrow, I go to Guitar center in search of a replacement for my NR plugin. I've had it with these guys. They don't care about their customers. They obviously aren't musicians, producers or what have you, because I can't count the times their software registration process has killed my creative flow because I spend an hour trying to register their product. I'm done.

I've been using that thing for years - never had too much of a problem with their piracy protection. I save the reg emails and usually that's all you need to back up unless you really change out your PC.

The new Waves Restoration sounds great (check the 14-day demo out) and is a little easier to use. But, as far as piracy protection goes, out of the frying pan and into the fire.... http://www.audioforums.com/forums/wink.gif

A long-long time ago, I complained of the same thing. They sent me the *.reg files ONE MORE TIME... This time I saved the files on TWO disks instead of one (in case one disappeared). Haven't had a problem with anything since.

P.S. My experience... I never fuzz with the site. I always call them.

Dude, just buy Cool Edit 2000 for about $70 or their Pro 2.0 version for about $250 and these both come with a great NR tool. The Pro has more restoration stuff as well. I too get tired of being punished by anti piracy schemes when I am a paying customer, so I stopped supporting Sonic F after sf5

This is what happens because of piracy. The paying customers pay again by re-registering, dongles, and all kinds of crap. Unfortuneatly, most good software companies are going to make you jump through hoops to legitimatly use their products. It's a sad reality, but hopefully things will change in the future making it harder to run on crack and easier to just be a customer. I wouldnt dis SF for that. As a matter of fact, if you called them regarding your dismay, you could probably get compensated as well. No company wants to hear of some one leaving for something so petty. And believe me, they want you to keep buying. Try it, good luck.
