I don't know, I think we're getting awfully flexible with this version numbering. It seems if you add anything at all or change your company logo, you're allowed to up the version number.

I've been demoing the SF6.0 demo and I'm not all that impressed. I mean, it's ultimately flexible and the FX Chainer is a nice addition. But, it seems more like an upgrade of SF5.0 than a whole new version. I mean if you really want an FX chainer, why not just use Acid for this function? All they did was bolt on the FX chainer from Acid Pro onto SF. I realize that Acid isn't an editor in the vein of SF but, the point is, I can already do everything that is supposedly "new" in SF6.0. And, I don't even have to go outside of the Sonic Foundry Family.

They're gonna have a hard time convincing me to spend the inevitably outlandish price on this one. Maybe I'll wait until SF7.0. Any other reviews?

My thoughts exactly. This is definitely not an upgrade product IMHO. The ability to continue working while the engine is processing is the only real significant feature to me. And $129 is ridiculous without a major revision.

And no DAO CD Burning - so you really need Vegas Video to deliver CD Masters - what are they thinking? Seems like 4.5 had better CD Mastering with CD Arch - the last few versions have been downgrades.

But do you think that S.F. actually cares about what we think? No! It's all about money. I still feel ripped off over CD Architect. When will there be a day when a company actually cares about what the customer thinks? Wake Up Sonic Foundry!!! And oh yea, I'm waiting for Sound Forge 7.0 also. Maybe it will be worth the upgrade price.

Of course SF cares what we think. To imagine otherwise is asinine. They produce products in the hope that people will buy them. If it's truly, as you suggest, "all about money" they have no choice but to pay attention to what the consumer wants. Why would they bother putting out a piece of software that is totally worthless? They'd learn their lesson pretty quickly when their sales disappeared.

True, SF 6 is less than I expected for the price. Not so much a new product as much as an upgrade from 5. But really, in the defence of SF, how much more functionality can you build into a wave editor? I still can't justify the price but I don't think that this is a case of SF victimizing and ignoring the audio editing public.
