I fried the Mother board on my DAW.
The processor, memory and drives are ok so i wanna know what specific motherboard or chipset would be best to work with.
Here is what Im putting on the board
Processor: P-III Coppermine 1GHZ 133mhz
Memory: 512mb pc 133 ram
Audio Card: M-Audio Audiophile 2496
OS: either Win98 lite or WinXP
Im not sure if i should go XP yet.
I will be running the following apps
Pro-Tools Free, Quartz Audio Master, Logic Plat 5, cool edit 2000, and T-Racks 24.
Please give your opinions. Thank You
I have similar computer specs. Use the Asus Tuslc-2 motherboard, reputation for being rock solid for audio - I've had mine for about a year or so and it's really stable - hardly crashes (well it hasn't yet when I done audio work). Intel 815EP chipset is what you're looking at.
You should be able to pick one up really cheap.

I agree with dubs....the TUSL2 boards are great P3 boards.
These boards rock if your into oveclocking. http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif
(if the above statement suits you check out the mad bios for the TUSL2 at------> http://www.x86-secret.com/articles/tweak/i815twken.htm) (http://www.x86-secret.com/articles/tweak/i815twken.htm)

PIII boards are harder to get with every passing month. You might want to try local computer shops to see if they can get some from overhead.
