I was all set on buying the m-audio delta 66/omni bundle with samplitude 2496 (roughly a $1000 investment, then I get in the mail today a video on digi 001. Now I cant decide which way to go. Does digi 001 support directx plug ins? Also, how are the d/a a/d converters on the digi 001 box, and the mic preamps? How about overall performance? Anything you have would be appreciated.

Hey there,

If i were you, I'd stick with the delta box and samplitude. The digi001, in my opinion, sucks, basically. The a/d conversion is not good compared to the delta stuff, the pre-amps arent real great in the digi001, and pro-tools just wasnt meant to run on a pc. If it installs allright, you'll be lucky if you dont get hard disk buffer problems all over the place. Also, I do not think the digi001 supports direct x or vst plugins, but I could be wrong. Samplitude is a wonderful program that in my opinion is just as good as the pro tools platform. Again, my opinion only, although I am sure alot of people will agree that the delta omni box and samplitude will give you much better sound quality and performance than the digi001. Hope this helped. See ya

Hi mr:
I did a lot of reserch on the digi 001 before settling on Samplitude 24/96 and the Seasound Solo ex. The impression I got was that digi doesn't support the pc platform very well. Also it doesn't support directX or vst. I think it uses rtas and audio sweet or something. I doen't think you'll regret going with Samplitude. In the six months I've used it I've become a huge fan.
Good luck with whatever you decide though.
peace, Bruce
