Hi ,

I have just started some serious editing with ProTools in my home studio. Where previously I was doing audio on a single track , I have started doing my commercial demo work on two tracks (stereo). When attempting to bounce the completed track to MP3..about 35 seconds into the process I get the "Audio Processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks .If this occurs often ,try reducing the HW buffer size in the Hardware setup panel. (-9129) "message..

then when I adjust I get this message- "The operating system held off interrupts for too long. If this occurs often, try increasing the "H/W Buffer size"in the hardware setup panel.(-9093) So I am at an empasse..

FYI I am using Windows 98 ...upgraded 256ram memory as recommended..All other programs such Black Ice ...PCCillin Virus protection are turned off. My hard disk 20gig is internal..

You guys experience this ? Help !!!

Thanks ,

Shrop

Do you have DMA enabled on your harddrive? Have you disabled your network card? Are you running an AMD or Celeron processor? How fast is your processor?

HI ,

Well I'll answerwhat I can ...I'm running an AMD Athlon k7 700MHZ processor ...Per the guys at Digidesign I have replaced the Windows 98 with the Standard Microsoft IDE driver ..with no luck ...I am using 256 (Protools ) for tracking and 1024 for playback .Attemptingto follow the ProTools quick start guide page 15 Enabling DMA for IDE hard drive ... no listing or DMA options listed in the Disk Drive Properties dialog box under Settings...Under system properties _hard disk controllers I show Primary Bus master IDE - Secondary Bus Master IDE and standard Dual PCI IDE Controllers..Under The standard dual is the only one of the three that has a Settings feature on it. Currently it is set to default..but there are 4 other settings.."Both IDE Channels enabled" , "Only Primary IDE channel enabled" ,"Only secondary IDE channel enabled" and "No IDE channel enabled" .Its just a wild guess on my part ..but maybe Both IDE channels should be enabled ?

Thanks ,

Shrop

from the digidesign web site:

Known Incompatibilities
Caution - Pro Tools LE does NOT support the following systems or systems with the following components:

Hewlett Packard Pavillion line of computers
AMD K6, K6-2 or K6-III processor based computers
Original Pentium processor based computers (Pentium I)
VIA chipset based motherboard computers
Laptop Computers
"ESS Solo-1 PCI AudioDrive" Sound, video and game controller. This device can be disabled from the "Device Manager" in the "System" Control Panel.

When you are trying to enable DMA are you:

right clicking on my computer
choose properties, device manager
choosing disk drives
choosing a drive, pressing properties and
going to the settings tab?
