I'm finding the quantizing to be fairly inaccurate in LAP8.1 on a G4867. It's something I noticed before but until now has not posed any serious trouble. In an arrangement with less than 10 midi sequences and about the same number of audio, the inaccurate timing is very clear in the perc and drum sequences. Any ideas?

Are you using a USB midi interface? If so, that's probably the problem and not Logic, especially if you're having to use OMS with it.
I would recommend getting a Emagic midi interface, as they don't need OMS and the timing is much, much better. If you look at the sequences in the matrix editor, you'll see that the quantization is right on (or should be) - it's the output from the midi interface that's screwing up the timing.

Yip, I'm using USB with OMS and everything looks correct. How sure are you that the Emagic Interface will solve it and are there any other's that will perform as well (just to keep my options open).

I know that Emagics interface will solve it because they have the code to address their midi interfaces built right into Logic - no need for OMS or any of that crap.
If you're using Logic, then there really isn't another interface out there that will solve your problems nearly as well as an Emagic one - for just the reason stated above. You might consider getting a Griffin GPort for your Mac and then you can get pretty much any serial interface out there - I recommend something like a MOTU MTP AV. I'm using one with the GPort on one of our machines and it works great.
