Hello. I've got a 10 track (all audio files) soundtrack that I've been working on. Just in the past couple weeks the hyper draws I've got going (very elaborate volume and surround positioning) kick in too slowly or don't register at all. As you can imagine the soundtrack sounds like garbage with audio files jumping in willy-nilly and in the wrong speaker. This just got really bad the past couple weeks, even though I didn't add anything. It also tends to pop and clip, but only in the bounce.

I thought that maybe my computer wasn't fast enough (G3 500) but even when I cut every single track accept a problem file's track, it still plays back incorrectly. I'm starting to think I tinkered with the hyper draw settings in such a way that they aren't registering right, but I have no idea how I could have done this. Or the way I've got Logic (4.7 plat) set up top to bottom is wrong: I see people mentioning increasing and decreasing buffers, no idea what their talking about.

Any one who's come across this dillema before please talk me through it, I'm new to Logic so I could also just use some advice on how I should be best setup for 5.1. I was supposed to give this guy a DVD test today so please respond ASAP. Thanks in advance- if more info needed please let me know.

I had some problems like that on my old puter. Like me wanting to do a fade in and the puter responding too slowly... thus a very loud millisecond before the fade kicks in. What I did to solve that sort of thing was creating an empty sample in front of the one I wanted the fade in on. That way I knew that logic had the value right at the start of the sample... Dunno why it did, but it worked.

Yes you can prolly help it by increasing the buffer. There's one in your hardware setup under logic... you can choose a larger disk buffer. Also in the software for your soundcard you might find a similar setting.
Basicly the bigger the buffer the better the sound, but the larger the latency.

Oh and I have no idea about anything to do with buoncing... I always mix externally to another device.
