I am the owner of a Motu, and if I could go back and do it again, I would have went with an Q-10 or the Multiface card by RME hands down. If you are using a pc, stay away from Motu. Motu's products were built for the Mac. PC is a mere afterthough.

MOTU has better converters available than anything from Aardvark. The converters in the 2408 are their bottom of the line but those in the MOTu 24i or 1296 are among the best available anywhere. I use a MOTU 24i on a PC & it works flawlessly... never had one problem from day one but some people have had problems with their driver compatibility (Usually with VIA chipsets... Duh). MOTU hardware is top notch but I would give RME the edge for driver support on PC. Aardvark driver support is as bad or worse than MOTU from what I've seen.

Aardvark Pro Q10 has better converters, also PCI is better the firewire and more stable. Aardvark just came out with a new driver for Win xp, it is running great on my PC. Motu runs better on Mac. the 828 does not have good preamps. Well Motu preamps are not as good as Aardvarks. Well check out all the reviews they all say that the preamps are great.

As far as converters go RME has hands down better converters than that of Aardvark and for MOTU. MOTU has historically snuffed PC users with drivers since they came out with the original 2408. Aardvark has a great system when it comes down to quality and performance. The Q10 for its cost has simply incredible performance and reliability. But when it comes to money isnt an object or onboard preamps arent a requirement a Hammerfall/ADI-8 combo or next the Multiface is the best bet. The Hammerfall itself is one of the most harolded rock solid sound cards on the market. Other converters that are good are SWISSONIC's which they also have a set with MIc Pres, Creamwares A16 ive found to be favourable as well and of course, the Apogees.
