how comfortable are the tools for audio editing in logic? anyone with experience with both cubase and logic.
how hard is it to assemble several takes into one solid recording in logic? is it possible to add realtime fx to an individual recording as opposed to a track only?
does it work correctly with external two track editors like sound forge or cooledit?
does it have built in help system? will my reaktor work fine as a plug-in.
basically i wonder if it's worth the need to learn the interface to switch from cubase to logic for the sake of audio only?
thanks a lot

Hi.
What is your computer platform?
Logic is much deeper than Cubase. More difficult to learn as well.It does not mean that what you make in Logic is not posible to make it in Cubase. Cubase is better for the VST Instruments. Plugins in Logic are high-end ones. I personally use Logic Platinium only for MIDI and I use Samplitude 2496 v6 for Audio. Thatīs why I ask if you work with Macs; then Logic is the best bet for you. If you are in a PC, Samplitude is deeper and better for Audio than Logic or Cubase. I have both of them in sync and work together suberp.

thanks for reply Anita
yes i'm on PC. it's cool to hear someone uses samplitude in synch. i tried that too with cubase for the same reason of being dissatisfied with cubase audio.
anyway i couldn't get it to synch without a delay. samplitude was a slave as recommended. wheneevr i press start in cubase samplitude would catch up only about a second later. it really decieves the perpose of it. weird thing once the synch was established it never failed. but still unworkable with that latency.
so please describe exactly how you synch samplitude to logic. what versions. (it may be that my samplitude is 5.x something. not 6.0) what virtual midi cable. what protocol (MTC or midi clock?) anything else related.
thanks for any input
BTW why don't you just use logic's audio capabilities? that was the original question of my post.

yes i need midi, and vsti's too. in case i'm misaunderstood.
so you say you have no problems with vst in logic. some people say otherwise. wonder what it depends on.

Hello duplex:
Sorry to replay late. Very bussy.
OK. I donīt use any VST in Logic, so I canīt say how they go. I do use the Sampler which works very good. The EXS24.
About the Sync question: Make sure that the synchronization interface can convert a SMPTE signal into MTC code. A software utility should let you do this easily, or the cards device driver might do it for you automatically.
Make sure you have sufficient system resources to provide accurate and timely synchronization for both programs. On a slow computer system you might encounter drifting of tracks if the system is not fast enough to deal with the processing of digital audio and sequencing. You might need to reduce the number of tracks used in samplitude or move the whole setup to a more powerful computer.
You might need to turn off Virtual Memory in Windows to compensate for synchronization inaccuracies. Most real-time functions in Windows are difficult to achieve when Virtual Memory is enabled. This is what I do while working specially with these 2 programs in Sync.
Make sure that the BPM in samplitude and your sequencing program match. This is important when dealing with time references in both programs.
If you are looking for a tight integration of MIDI tracks from your favorite sequencer and audio tracks from samplitude, then the MTC is the format of choice becasue it contains an additional layer of timing information in addition to the signals that are transmitted by the MIDI Clock format.
And by the way, I have samplitude as Master, due I use it as my main Studio Interface. I have at times a very little delay, but it happens only when I have more than 20 audio tracks on Samplitude`s canvas.
I run Athlon 1400-C and the SoundTrack Audio DSP24 System III from Hoontech which has almost no latency problem, and this may help me too.

I wish you luck.

it wasn't late. i read rarely. so thanks.
yuo got a helluva system there. talk about plenty of resourses http://www.audioforums.com/forums/smile.gif
i can match bpm's cos they change thru-out the song. but samplitude as a master is worth to try.
you still didn't say what version you samplitude is.
